What is the Tiny Desk AI meme?

Tiny Desk is a live-session style: a band squeezed into a small office, playing around a desk with shelves of books and records behind them. NPR Music started the series in 2008, and its own history of the first concert calls the format "unadorned, honest and intimate live concerts". The Tiny Desk AI meme borrows that look.

The clip that took off is a short small-office set that ends on the song Outstanding, from a 2023 NPR Music Tiny Desk concert reported by Okayplayer. The lead singer gets two close-ups, a sax player takes a solo in the middle, and the whole set is cut into five shots.

People then used AI to put themselves in the band. They cast friends, coworkers, pets and game or cartoon characters, and the lead seat often goes to the guest of honor.

This generator makes that remake from your photos. It keeps the room, the five hard cuts and the original Outstanding audio, and only the performers change. The picture is generated from your photos, and the original sound is added at the end, lined up with the cuts. Each video is 19 seconds long.

“Flanked by a host of musicians, Wilson expressed the depth and breadth of his life and career, telling a tale of two Charlies.”

AI Tiny Desk meme FAQs

Still have questions? Email [email protected].

What is the AI Tiny Desk meme generator?

It is a web tool that turns 1 to 5 photos into a 19-second, 9:16 Tiny Desk style band video with the original Outstanding sound. There is no prompt to write and no app to install.

How do I make a Tiny Desk AI video?

Add your photos at the top of this page, pick 480p, 720p or 1080p, and press Generate. If your balance is too low, you buy a pack once and the video starts right after. The finished video plays in the preview box and stays in My videos.

How many photos do I need?

One photo is enough. Photo 1 is required and photos 2 to 5 are optional, and AI fills any empty seat. One photo and five photos cost the same.

Who sits where in the band?

Photo 1 is the lead singer and gets both close-ups. Photo 2 plays the sax, photo 3 plays the keys, and photos 4 and 5 are the two backing singers. The order you add the photos is the seating plan.

Can I use a pet or a cartoon character?

Yes. Each photo can show one clear subject: a person, an anime, cartoon or game character, or a pet. A character that looks like a real person counts as a person and must be an adult.

Does the video have the original sound?

Every video plays the original Outstanding audio, lined up with the five cuts and leveled so it sounds right next to other clips in a feed. There is no silent version.

How long is the video, and is it vertical?

Each video is 19 seconds long and vertical 9:16, as an MP4. That fits TikTok, Reels and Shorts.

How long does it take to make?

Most videos take about 5 to 8 minutes. You can watch the progress or close the page. We send an email when it is ready, and the video is saved in My videos.

How much does it cost?

A video uses 4 credits at 480p, 8 at 720p and 20 at 1080p. That is $5.33 to $8 at 480p, $10.67 to $16 at 720p and $26.67 to $40 at 1080p, depending on the pack. Packs cost $10, $20, $40 or $100, paid once on a secure Stripe checkout.

Is it a subscription?

No. You buy a credit pack once, nothing renews, and unused credits never expire.

Do I need an app?

No. It runs in your browser on a phone or a computer. Add your photos, wait for the video and download the MP4.

What if it fails or doesn't look like my photo?

A failed video costs nothing: its credits go back to your balance automatically. For a better likeness, use a sharp, front-facing photo with good light and nothing covering the face. Results can vary, so one band member may get less screen time than another.

What happens to my photos and videos?

Your photos are stored privately and deleted after 14 days. Finished videos stay in My videos for 30 days. We never post them anywhere.

Which photos are not allowed?

Each photo needs one clear subject facing the camera. Photos with several subjects, no clear face or a covered face are rejected, and so is anyone who may be under 18. You must have the right to use every photo. JPG, PNG, WebP and HEIC files up to 10 MB work. We check each photo first, and a rejected photo never costs credits.

Is this the official Tiny Desk video?

No. This is an independent fan-made tool with no link to the original concert series, its performers or any platform. Every video is generated by AI from your photos.
